Hold a Meeting in Columbus

Kimberly Mydland, CAE, senior director of meetings and education for the American Academy of Audiology, explains why you should pick Columbus for your next meeting, convention, trade show or event:


I cannot say enough about the support we received from the Experience Columbus team. They began partnering with us a year before our annual meeting took place in Columbus by attending the prior year's annual conference to begin promoting Columbus and generating buzz and excitement about the city. Sharon even attended our exhibitor site visit in Nashville in 2018 in order to be able to learn the needs and wants of our exhibitor companies and corporate partners so that she could plan our site visit to Columbus in 2019 around their specific needs.

From the moment our attendees arrived in Columbus they were impressed by all the city has to offer. While onsite I heard frequent comments about how nice everyone was - and not just the staff who worked in the hotels or the convention center, but even total strangers on the street! Our attendees appreciated how well designed the convention center is. It is a very easy to navigate space and none of our attendees needed to worry about getting lost! Both attendees and staff also appreciated several of the downtown hotels being connected to the convention center via a walkway. We had one day of rain during our annual meeting and everyone was thankful they were able to have a dry walk from their hotel to our meeting space!

I had not been to Columbus prior to our site visit and annual meeting, so I didn't really know what to expect. But as a meeting planner I was pleasantly surprised by how much Columbus has to offer. There is truly something for everyone - art galleries, museums, fantastic restaurants, outdoor activities, a sports arena right in downtown, and plenty of public transportation options to navigate the city - although it's also a very walkable city! Columbus offers a city experience for conference attendees but without the big city price tag. Truly a win-win for both attendees and meeting planners!
