Community Service Projects for Groups in Columbus
Columbus is a caring and highly charitable city. We pull together to support those who need it most. In fact, recently, in a 24-hour period during a program organized by the Columbus Foundation, Columbus leveraged more than $15 million to support 587 Central Ohio nonprofits.
We understand the importance of CSR initiatives to many groups and look forward to working together to identify an issue about which groups are passionate and craft a program that leaves Columbus in an even better place. An example of some projects that help tackle local issues include:
Lead organization: Mid-Ohio Foodbank
Mission: To end hunger one nourishing meal at a time and to co-create a sustainable community where everyone thrives.
Potential volunteer opportunity: Organize, stack and move food donations in the Mid-Ohio Foodbank warehouse, assist with area food pantries
Issue: Sick Children
Lead organization: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio
Mission: Provide families whose child is sick and in the hospital with a home
Potential volunteer opportunity: Cook, serve meals, make welcome blankets, host family activities
Issue: Infant Mortality
Lead organization: CelebrateOne
Mission: To carry out the recommendations of the Greater Columbus Infant Mortality Task Force to reduce our infant mortality rate and celebrate the first birthdays of more children in our community.
Potential volunteer opportunity: Literature canvassing
Issue: Disadvantaged Families
Lead organization: Reeb Avenue Center
Mission: To build self-sufficiency in South Side residents through opportunities and transform lives through education, job training, and local job growth including entrepreneurship.
Potential volunteer opportunity: Variety of projects available with one of the center’s many resource partners, including volunteer in café and market, prepare care packages for Boys & Girls Club, beautify center’s grounds
