Welcome to Columbus, Society of American Military Engineers!

Welcome to Columbus, SAME attendees! We're so glad you chose to come! Whether you're a first-time visitor or have already been here a few times, we want to help you make this visit one to remember! We hope you notice all of the pink details around the city - we truly value you and want to share the best of the city with you.

First thing's first - you'll want to make time to get out and explore Columbus' distincive, walkable neighborhoods. Just outside the doors of the Greater Columbus Convention Center, you'll find the Short North Arts District, filled with outstanding restaurants, casual and upscale bars, and great local shopping. Head south, and you'll be in Downtown Columbus, which is full of museums, parklands and happens to be booming with new development right now. Of note, head across the Scioto River and the 33 acres of new park that make up the Scioto Mile to the site of the future National Veterans Memorial and Museum, the only national monument honoring all branches of US military service. It's set to open July 4, 2018. A little further south is German Village, a historic neighborhood built in brick that's thriving today with awesome restaurants, architectural marvels and unique shopping.

Once you have the lay of the land, it's time to treat yourself. Columbus' beer scene is booming, and we've made it super easy to find your new favorite microbrew. The Cbus Ale Trail links together 31 distinct breweries around Greater Columbus, and Brewer's Row is a great place to start - with five local breweries all within a short distance. Check out some stand-out restaurants, and make sure you don't skip breakfast. If live music is more your thing, check out the city's active nightlife scene.

Need tips for getting around Columbus? It's really pretty easy, and most of what we've told you about is walkable from the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Catch AirConnect from John Glenn Columbus International Airport direct to your downtown hotel for $2.75 each way.  Definitely take advantage of the free CBUS Downtown Circulator to get you from the convention area up into the Short North and down to German Village. We've got all the details to get around CBUS.
