Southwest airlines announced in February that it will be adding direct flights from Columbus to Boston and the San Francisco Bay area.

A non-stop flight to the Bay area has been the number 1 goal of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority and the city's Jobs Expansion and Transportation Task Force. As a top destination without a direct flight, the San Francisco Bay area promotes ties to technology companies and venture capital investment and will have a great economic impact on the Columbus region. Southwest will also be offering two nonstop flights to Boston, adding on to Delta Air Lines three non-stop flights per day. This announcement follows the recent news that Southwest will be adding an additional flight to Dallas, Atlanta and Washington D.C. in April, which will be great for anyone traveling out of Columbus. The new flights to San Francisco and Boston are scheduled to begin in August 2015. Read about it here.
