Working at Experience Columbus
At Experience Columbus, telling the story of our city is both interesting and rewarding, and we encourage and support employees through everything from generous health insurance and paid parking to off-site adventures and professional development. Read on to learn more about us and what we do.
What We Do
We are a destination marketing organization, sometimes referred to as a convention and visitor bureau. We hire people from a variety of backgrounds: hospitality, the arts, tour operations, communications, marketing, finance, account management and customer service, just to name a few.
Convention Sales sells Columbus as a convention, meeting and trade show destination to statewide and national audiences. The team collaborates with other hospitality industry professionals to produce bids to host meetings and conventions in Columbus.
Marketing supports the promotion of leisure, meetings & conventions, and sports tourism through strategic marketing, public relations, digital and social tactics. They continue to raise the profile of Columbus as a vibrant, open and world-class city.
Partnerships handles all sales, promotions and retention of our 900+ partners across various industries. Their curation and promotion of some of the best retail, restaurant, lodging and event businesses showcases the city's unique culture.
Destination Experience partners with the community and industry to create memorable experiences for visitors and residents. This includes creation of experiential trails, education and awareness of the Columbus scene, and supporting conventions.
How We Work
Our culture is founded on our core values: Value the Voices, Take It On, Live Your Passion, Create Moments and Think Forward. Each value is important to our daily meetings and responsibilities, but also to our identity as an organization. Columbus is a progressive, dynamic city, and the Experience Columbus community is always striving to reflect the Columbus residents we serve.
We want employees to have the resources they need to live a balanced life, and we’re always looking ahead to ways we can continue to improve and develop our policies. From our dynamic and vibrant office space in the Arena District to our hybrid work schedule and common-sense leave policies, we aim to strike the balance between community time and personal flexibility. We support our team so that every person can be encouraged and able to produce their best work, and — in keeping with our core values — follow their passions as we all work to amplify our great city.
Our DEIA Statement
Experience Columbus and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission champion diversity, equity and inclusion in our organizations, industry, and community. Valuing all voices, unique experiences and diverse perspectives is exemplified in everything we do. We empower our team to be their authentic selves and are committed to using our collective voice to drive transformational change.
