Sports in the Arena District

The Arena District is home to many of Columbus major local sports teams.

Nationwide Arena opened in 2000 and is home to the National Hockey League’s Columbus Blue Jackets. The only National Hockey League franchise in Ohio, the Columbus Blue Jackets have become a force to be reckoned with in the NHL. The Blue Jackets play in the NHL’s Eastern Conference and host games at Nationwide Arena from mid-September through mid-April.

The Columbus Clippers, the AAA affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians, moved to the Arena District in 2009 and have hit a home run with their family-friendly Huntington Park, named the best ballpark in America. Take advantage of their many promotions throughout the season, including fan favorite, Dime-a-Dog nights. The season runs from April to September and includes day and night games throughout the season.

The Columbus Crew has emerged as one of Central Ohio's most popular sports attractions. The team moved from the United States’ first soccer-specific MAPFRE Stadium to a new stadium, Lower.com Field, in 2021. Their season runs March through October.
