Ask a local where to find one of the city's most memorable Italian dining experiences and chances are they'll point you toward Metsi's. Built around a custom wood-fired hearth and an open kitchen, the restaurant brings a fresh approach to Italian cooking, making it an ideal choice for a special night out, date night, or dinner with friends. 

If you're looking for something a little lighter before heading out to explore the galleries, shops and murals nearby, head over to Northstar Cafe. Grab a salad or sandwich and sit on the patio, where you'll have a great view of everything happening along High Street. 

For fresh oysters and quite possibly the best clam chowder you'll ever have, stop by The Pearl for brunch or dinner. Their happy hour specials are equally good, and the decor gives it a nostalgic neighborhood tavern feel.

And then there's FYR. Centered around a wood-fired grill and open-flame cooking, the restaurant creates a dining experience that's both dramatic and inviting. The food showcases bold, fire-driven flavors, and the stylish atmosphere makes it one of the most memorable places in the city for a special dinner or celebration.

Quick Bites & On-the-Go Options  

Sometimes all you need is a coffee fix or a quick bite between galleries and sightseeing. Fox in the Snow is the place to go for pastries, while One Line Coffee is a convenient stop before exploring the neighborhood.

For something quick, grab a bagel piled high with smoked salmon and cream cheese from The Lox Bagel Shop or stop by Brassica to build your own Mediterranean bowl, pita, or salad. 

And no trip to the Short North feels complete without a stop at Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. Or if your evening goes a little longer than expected, Mikey's Late Night Slice stays open until 3 am.
