The Columbus community has been able to safely reopen amidst the COVID-19 pandemic by ensuring proper health and safety protocols are in place, including a citywide mask mandate. Currently, a statewide curfew is in effect from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Saturday, Jan. 23 to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The Franklin County stay-at-home advisory, also in effect until Jan. 23, asks citizens not to leave their residences or travel outside of Ohio unless it is absolutely necessary. Franklinton, the first place to be settled in the area in 1797, is separated from downtown by the Scioto River to the east, and is experiencing a renaissance as a new center for the city’s maker culture and independent art scene. Ample trails and parkland along the Scioto Mile connect the two areas, with Franklinton offering a quieter mix of residential streets and revitalized industrial buildings.
