Looking for a new, unique space to host a reception or gathering while in town for your conference? A new, full service banquet and event venue opened in downtown Columbus recently. Scott Heimlich, owner of the popular German Village restaurant Barcelona and catering company, Sidecar Global Catering, needed something else to complement his booming businesses. Many of the buildings in the area were warehouses in the early 1900s. The event space still has the industrial warehouse vibe, with worn brick walls, wooden oak floors, a tall ceiling and exposed ventilation system. Heimlich states that the space is not over the top and will feel comfortable for the guests.

The area around the event venue is becoming a neighborhood hotspot with lots of lively bars and restaurants nearby. Red Brick Occasions is a 4,000-square foot space that can seat up to 125 for larger dinners and up to 250 people for cocktail receptions. The event space - named after the area of downtown known as the Red Brick District, is located on Main Street between Third and Fourth streets. Heimlich's catering company, Sidecar Global Catering runs the event space, handling all aspects of the events, from food service to staffing and set-up to rentals. Some of the more popular dishes they offer include paella, short ribs and pumpkin and goat ravioli. The menu also includes vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.
