COLUMBUS, Ohio—It’s a landmark year of championship golf in Columbus as the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday marks its 50th anniversary and Columbus gears up to host the 2026 U.S. Senior Open. To celebrate the city’s close ties to the sport—including being the hometown of golf’s greatest champion, Jack Nicklaus—Experience Columbus and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission are launching a new Columbus Golf Guide.

“From Jack Nicklaus to Jason Day, many of golf’s greatest's have Columbus connections, and Ohio’s capital city has more than a century of golf history,” said Sarah Townes, ECI, Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer for Experience Columbus and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission. “Our new Columbus Golf Guide celebrates that history and invites visitors and locals alike to explore Central Ohio courses and golf-related attractions like the Jack Nicklaus Museum.”

Guide to Central Ohio Golf Courses

As the weather warms and the first major of the year gets underway with the Masters, now is the perfect time to tap into our guide to Central Ohio golf courses. Columbus is home to several top-rated courses steeped in history, as well as dozens of public courses close to the city. The Columbus Golf Guide tells the story behind courses like Dublin’s Muirfield Village Golf Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus, Scioto Country Club, one of only five courses in the world to have hosted the U.S. Open, PGA Championship and the U.S. Amateur. The guide also highlights places the whole family can enjoy with a list of area miniature golf locations.

Championship Golf Moments

Celebrating 50 years in 2026, the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday comes to Dublin June 1-7.  The tournament honors the memory of individuals living and deceased who have distinguished themselves in the game of golf and showcases the world’s best golfers competing on one of the most challenging venues in the world. Visitors and locals can choose from a range of activities to enjoy, including Family Night, Salute to Service Day, Fore!Fest, a street and music festival in Dublin's Bridge Park, and much more.

In July, Scioto Country Club hosts the U.S. Senior Open for the third time, with the last U.S. Senior Open taking place at the course in 2016. Columbus native and former Ohio State and NBA shooting guard Michael Redd will serve as honorary chair for the 2026 U.S. Senior Open, and tickets are on sale now, starting at $45.

Celebrating Local Legends

The new Columbus Golf Guide also highlights the many top people in golf who have Columbus ties. In addition to Jack Nicklaus and Jason Day, one of the most well-known golf course designers in the world, Pete Dye, was born in Urbana, Ohio. Over a long career, he designed more than 200 courses across the world, including two in Columbus—The Golf Club in New Albany and Little Turtle Golf Club in Westerville. The guide highlights more than 25 other legends, including Tammie Green, Ben Curtis, Cathy Gerring and many more.

One must-visit for any golf fans coming to Columbus is the Jack Nicklaus Museum. Located on The Ohio State University’s campus, the 12,000 square-foot educational and historical facility offers an immersive journey through his brilliant career including trophies, photographs and various mementos from his unparalleled 18 major championships and 100 worldwide professional victories.
