By now, you're probably all aware of the severity of the COVID-19 crisis and are prepared to do what it takes to get our communities through it. If you aren't, there's a list of closings and cancellations here. Experience Columbus is hard at work putting together resources and info that, we hope, will help you navigate this time and help the local companies and employees who work so hard to make Columbus such a wonderful place to live and visit.
If you're wondering what you can do to help, here are some ideas:
Restaurants and Bars: Restaurants are not able to serve customers in their dining rooms, but many are offering carry-out and delivery options. Consider ordering lunch or dinner from your favorite spots to help ease your daily schedule. Bars and breweries may also be offering carry-out services. Check out this resource for details.
Retail: Many shops have decided to close their doors, but many are also fulfilling online orders through mail delivery. Consider local businesses for your shopping needs, and if you are able, buying a gift card now can go a long way to helping these retailers support their staffs during this time.
Other Service Providers: If you have a personal service, such as for hair or nails, scheduled over the next weeks and don't feel comfortable keeping your appointment, consider calling to leave the tip you would have left for your service provider.
Attractions: Though most major attractions in Columbus are closed for the time being, it's a great time to show your support by buying an annual membership or making a donation.
Performers: Performance venues are closed, so if your favorite local artist has an album or subscription option, this is a great time to buy/join it.
Neighbors and friends: Check on elderly or immunocompromised neighbors via phone, and if they need help gathering necessary items, help them navigate their options. We don't recommend gathering with friends, but video chats and old fashioned phone calls will help ease your loneliness.
Over the coming days, we'll be sharing more info on how you can navigate this period of home-based time. We hope you find this valuable!
