Italian Village, located just north of downtown Columbus and just east of the Short North Arts District, is becoming a hotspot for great food and drink. The neighborhood is bordered by Fifth Avenue on the north, the train tracks to the east, High Street on the west, and I-670 on the south. There you’ll find a growing number of homes and businesses helping shape the neighborhood. Take a look at some of the dining and shopping highlights in the district!
Italian Village features some much-loved watering holes, many of which have been welcoming regulars for years. The St. James Tavern is a long-running dive bar known for its jukebox, affable bartenders, and great deals on craft beer. Little Rock Bar is a favorite spot for beer, cocktails, and patio space, including a small rooftop patio.
Two breweries call Italian Village home! Seventh Son Brewing is known for their variety of brews, like their signature Seventh Son Strong Ale, the Stonefort Brown Ale, or the rich Oubliette imperial stout. The brewery features patio spaces, a rotation of the city’s best food trucks, and a new expansion that includes a rooftop bar.
Just down the street, Hoof Hearted Brewery & Kitchen includes a small system to supply beer that pairs with their colorful and creative menu. Look to them for cartoonish branding and big, over-the-top hazy IPAs. Visit for Sunday brunch, and enjoy the back patio with pool attached!
Italian Village is also home to the first location of the popular Fox in the Snow Cafe. The bakery and coffee shop features cappuccinos, cold brew, and pour overs to go with stunning pastries, from donuts to cinnamon rolls to galettes. Don’t miss the egg sandwich stacked with souffled eggs, candied bacon, Swiss, greens and a tart Dijon mustard.
Plenty of other dining options are available, like modern Mexican and cocktails at Cosecha Cocina, located in a renovated brick dairy barn with a big front patio. Goremade Pizza features creative pies made in their wood-fired oven, perfect for pairing with salads, charcuterie, and cocktails. Located in the old Wonderbread factory building, City Tavern offers pub fare and cocktails with great views of downtown. For the all-day brunch fan, there’s Drunch Eatery + Bar with everything from chicken and waffles to flatbreads to donuts to French toast.
The Market Italian Village is a full-service restaurant and bar, coffee shop, grocery store, deli, and everything in between. Visit for creative weekend brunches, great happy hour details with cocktails and 20 beers on tap, and their new No Menu Mondays, where guests show up and put their trust in the chefs’ creativity.
It’s not just food and drink in Italian Village! In between meals, stop by Stump for an expertly curated selection of plants for your home. Get a haircut or a beard trim at the throwback Royal Rhino Club, where you can enjoy bourbon or beer and play billiards while you wait. Book an adventure for friends or co-workers at Amaze Escape Room, too!
And more is on the way: Cameron Mitchell Restaurants is renovating the stunning Budd Dairy building into the Budd Dairy Food Hall, which will feature a selection of Columbus culinary entrepreneurs. Cold-pressed juice shop & Juice Co. is adding a location in the neighborhood, too!
