From the field to the court, the pool to the ice — and everywhere in between — Experience Columbus is proud to spotlight 18 Ohio State female student-athletes who are making an impact both in competition and across the city. Follow along as they share the places, experiences, and hidden gems that have shaped their time in Columbus, the city they’ve chosen to call home throughout their athletic careers.

Ruby Remati is an artistic swimmer at Ohio State who capped off her senior season by being named the 2026 Collegiate Athlete of the Year. During her time as a Buckeye, she won multiple national titles, including two in her final season.

Her success extends beyond the collegiate level. Ruby competed for Team USA and earned a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics — the United States’ first Olympic medal in artistic swimming in 20 years.

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Ruby chose to call Columbus home for the past four years. Here’s why she loves it:

What is your favorite thing about living in Columbus?

I love the Short North area — the cafes, the restaurants, and Goodale Park, especially in the spring and summer.

Describe your ideal day in Columbus.

Pilates at Tremble, then walk to North Market and get Stauf’s Coffee and buy some bread or look at the shops around there. On the way back grab a bagel at The Lox Bagel Shop and then eat it and hang out at Goodale Park. Spend time with my friends there for a while. Get ready and go to dinner at The Rossi and then Alibi Lounge after.

What are three of your favorite local restaurants or coffee shops?

Pistacia Vera, Emmett’s Cafe, and Mission Coffee

Outside of your sport, what other games do you like to go to in Columbus?

I like to watch Crew games and other Ohio State sporting events.

What are you saying "yes" to in Columbus this year?

Yes to more outdoor activities, yes to more outdoor movies, and yes to more community events.

Ruby’s career at Ohio State has come to an end, but you may see her back on the Olympic stage in the future. Keep supporting Ruby and follow along as we continue to spotlight her favorite places around Columbus.
