Summer is for the dogs! As Columbus sees more and more sunshine days, here’s where your dog told us they want to go this season! From baseball games to breweries, there’s something on this list for pups of all interests.
DogHouse Columbus
DogHouse Columbus Hotel (BrewDog Brewery)
Your pup deserves a staycation at BrewDog’s specialty hotel, DogHouse! There’s even a shower beer fridge for humans! Check in to one of 30+ craft beer-themed rooms where dogs are encouraged to have the best sleepover of their lives. This local, award-winning brewery has a tasting room and brewing facility in the hotel, so you can get up close and personal with the brewing process.
Pins Mechanical Co.
Teach your dog a new trick - bowling! Well, they may not have thumbs to bowl with you at Pins Mechanical Co., but they can join you just about everywhere else at this downtown local’s favorite bar. This spot has a great happy hour, games like cornhole, duckpin bowling, daily drink specials, and a huge outdoor patio. Pups are allowed both inside and outside.
Three Creeks Metro Park Dog Park + Trails
Looking for a place to get some exercise together? Check out the Three Creeks Metro Park in south Columbus. With a 4-acre fenced-in dog area, there’s lots of space to play for both large and small dogs. Once they’re tired out, take a family walk on the miles of pet-friendly trails in the park. Some favorites are the Heron Pond Trail (0.6 miles) and Turtle Pond Trail (0.4 miles).
Columbus Clippers PuppyPalooza games (September 4)
Does your pup love fetch? Take them to the ultimate fetch game for humans - a Columbus Clippers game at Huntington Park! Dog-Friendly PuppyPalooza game dates are April 30 and September 4. Register your pup ahead of time to join the “puppy parade” for a long walk on the field before the game starts. Dogs will be seated in specific sections and the Clippers offer 10 minutes of “dog babysitting” if owners need to stand in line for concessions. All dogs must be fully vaccinated and Ohio-registered.
Prairie Oaks Metro Park Dog Beach
This 2,000+ acre park in West Columbus is a great place to soak up the sunshine and even take your dog swimming in the pond! Bring fetch toys and jump off the dock at the Doggie Beach in the Darby Bend Lakes area. Other pet-friendly trails include Beaver Lake (0.9 miles) and the Sycamore Plains Trail (2.2 miles). The Cakehound
Does your pup have a summer birthday? Or do they just deserve a special treat? (always!) Pay a visit to this German Village bakery specifically for furry friends and find pup-approved baked goods perfect for any occasion! Cakehound can also be found at the German Village Farmers Market on Saturdays.
Nocterra Brewing + Scioto Audubon Metro Park
After enjoying a walk at Scioto Audubon Metro Park, bring your dog over to the Nocterra Brewing outdoor patio! There are lots of comfy seating options with firepits available with great views of the park and downtown. Some menu favorites are the truffle burger, falafel gyro, and “Taking Rips” IPA.
Bumble’s Backyard
Take your dog to Columbus’ first dog park + bar near the Hilltop neighborhood! This membership-based dog park allows owners to take their dogs to play while they enjoy a human beverage in peace. Bumble’s Backyard has trained staff on site who monitor doggie playtime and give owners peace of mind that everyone is having a good time! Day passes start at just $8.
Bark Bash
Mark your calendars for this annual Recreation & Parks event happening August 23, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm at Prairie Oaks Metro Park. This celebratory event includes food trucks, local canine vendors, and a doggone good time for pups and humans! More info will be available soon here.
