Sue Doody, a former schoolteacher turned entrepreneur, established Lindey's over 35 years ago in the heart of Columbus' historic German Village. Despite lacking formal training, Sue's dedication to warm hospitality created a lasting legacy, now carried on by her sons, Rick and Chris Doody. Chris, credited for founding the national success Piada Italian Street Food, embodies the family's dedication to culinary innovation.

For over 50 years, Phyllis Ann Carter, affectionately known as Candy, has delighted friends and family with her homemade desserts. From cakes to cobblers, her creations have become cherished favorites at gatherings big and small. Alongside her husband, she built a life centered on family and food, instilling a love for Southern-style cooking in her four children. In 2020, inspired by their parents' legacy, the Carter children and their spouses formed a company to share Phyllis Ann's beloved recipes with the world. Now, through spices, breading and cake mixes, they invite you to savor the flavors of Phyllis Ann's kitchen in your own home.

 Flavor 91 is a family-owned and operated restaurant, caterer, and food truck serving the Columbus community since 2016. Founded by Moses Hayelom, his mother Freweini Abraha and his sister Winta Hayelom, Flavor 91 specializes in non-GMO, hormone-free, antibiotic-free, grass-fed burgers and locally sourced ingredients from Ohio farms. In addition to classic American fare, the restaurant brings a unique twist with its signature American Fare with Ethiopian Flair™ and American Fare with Axum Flair—blending traditional Ethiopian flavors, seasonings and recipes with American favorites. Hoyo’s Kitchen 

Hoyo's Kitchen, named after the Somali word for "Mother," was born in 2014 on Columbus' North Side at the hands of brothers Abdilahi "A.B." and Mohamed Hassan. Drawing inspiration from their mother, Hayat Dalmar, and her recipes, they set out to share the vibrant flavors of their homeland cuisine with the Central Ohio community. By 2019, Hoyo's had expanded to North Market, allowing even more diners to celebrate the comforting tastes of Africa. 

 

Replenish: The Spa Co-op 

Located in the heart of Downtown Columbus, Replenish: the spa co-op is a family-owned business rooted in restorative care. Founded by two sisters and their mother, the spa blends ancestral wisdom with modern self-care therapies. This mother-son duo, Deane Flagg Washington and Jaleel Washington, celebrates 10 years in business this September. Deane, with a background in fashion design, inspired Jaleel to follow in her footsteps, and together they’ve built a brand that tells stories of Black innovation and perseverance, motivating others to keep going. You can find their brick-and-mortar in Reynoldsburg.
