Live for the First Bite
Ask any Columbus local, this city is all about the food. Among being an unexpected hub for the arts and fashion, Columbus also has a killer food scene. From bucket list eats, to up-and-coming chefs, to hidden gems, Columbus has something spectacular for any craving or sweet tooth. Our Live for the First Bite itinerary is inspired in part by:
Bakeries & Coffee Shops
If you want some great coffee or something sweet, German Village is the place to go. Start your day at one of the many coffee shops like Fox in the Snow and Stauf’s Coffee Roasters. Grab a pastry while you’re there too. After a stroll through Schiller Park, you can also pick up some dessert for later, like homemade macarons at Pistacia Vera or some chocolates from Winan’s German Village.
If you’re looking for a fun activity to pass the time, check out Flowers & Bread for one of their baking or flower arranging classes for you and your friends. Yes, you get to bring all the goodies home!
The Short North has great brunch spots like Lox Bagel Shop, which features out-of-this-world New York-style bagel sandwiches, Forno and Northstar Cafe. Other great spots in the nearby area are Katalina’s (check out their pancake balls), Brekkie Shack and the Ohio State campus staple, Buckeye Donuts that’s open 24/7.

Another great spot to check out some more Columbus favorites is the new Budd Dairy Food Hall.
If you’re looking for a place where you can enjoy the finer things in life and perhaps a special meal with your loved ones, check out the award-winning Lindey’s Restaurant & Bar or plant-forward Comune in German Village. Esteemed chef Cameron Mitchell also has several stellar restaurants around the city with different personalities but all guaranteed to please.
In Columbus, we’re also lucky to have several breweries and distilleries with spectacular food. If you’re downtown, grab dinner and a drink at Watershed Distillery, Wolf’s Ridge Brewing or Service Bar, owned by Middle West Spirits and run by head chef, Avishar Barua, who is competing on season 18 of “Top Chef.”
