Cherry Valley Hotel sits just outside Newark, Ohio, with convenient access to the highway so it’s easily reachable from all around the region. After undergoing major renovations back in 2019, Cherry Valley has once again become a major destination for a family getaway, a romantic weekend, a quick overnight, or big meetings and conferences.
My family and I took a trip there that turned into a memorable weekend, and we still talk about our stay. The cozy welcome starts right when you walk into the lobby, where rich wood accents, comfortable seating, and a pair of fireplaces warm the space.
Our boys loved splashing in the pool while the adults relaxed poolside. The indoor pool features floor-to-ceiling windows, so it’s filled with natural light – it feels like an outdoor escape no matter the time of year.
The spacious rooms were also perfect for our whole family, from the giant king beds to the lounge area with sofas where we could watch a movie, play a game, or enjoy a snack. We loved the funny animal portraits in the rooms, and that the different sections are named things like Jade Owl or Red Hare.
The real centerpiece of Cherry Valley is the lush courtyard with a pond, a small waterfall, gazebos, firepits, and a terrace that’s perfect for dining or just lounging with a drink. All through the winter they decorate the courtyard with lights, creating a charming, colorful landscape. To cap off the magical experience, you can reserve a seat at their Winter Glow igloo dining! The private experience in the heated igloos includes cozy seating, blankets, and a prix fixe three-course dinner.
And while Cherry Valley Hotel sparkles in the winter, it really shines in the spring! The courtyard and gardens come alive with spring blooms, cherry blossoms, thousands of lights. That makes the firepits and terrace even more enticing! Starting in April Cherry Valley offers Blooms & Bulbs, an outdoor dining experience in private, climate-controlled igloos where you can sip cocktails or a glass of wine while you enjoy the chef’s prix fixe menu.
Speaking of meals… whether you’re in the mood for a more elegant dining experience or just a quick bite to eat, Cherry Valley has you covered. The Craftsman Kitchen & Terrace – which is open to the public, even if you’re not staying overnight – offers a seasonal dinner menu that’s crafted with care. You’ll find everything from the Craftsman Burger to French dip sandwiches, pastas to pizzas, steak frites to blackened mahi. Just don’t skip the Cherry Valley vanilla bean bread pudding for dessert!
For a more casual experience, duck into the CK Pub for lunch or dinner. The laid-back lounge serves up pub nachos and wings, giant salads, Nashville hot chicken sandwiches and reubens – all paired with local draft beers, wines, and a solid bourbon selection.
