Flavor 91 Bistro is a family-owned and operated restaurant founded by mother, daughter, and son—Freweini, Winta, and Moses. Inspired by their Ethiopian heritage, they created a space where unique flavors transport guests beyond a typical dining experience. Their passion for food, hospitality, and community is evident in their commitment to high-quality, locally sourced ingredients and their mission to introduce bold, globally inspired flavors to Columbus.

What inspired you to start your business?
We opened Flavor 91 Bistro in 2016 to provide a fresh, high-quality dining option that pays homage to our Ethiopian roots while supporting local Ohio farmers. We wanted to create a destination that not only serves the best burgers and wings in Ohio but also offers a culinary journey with flavors that transport you. Many guests visit Flavor 91 Bistro to support a local business but are pleasantly surprised by our unique seasonings, handcrafted dishes, and the depth of flavor that sets us apart. Our commitment to non-GMO, hormone-free, antibiotic-free, and locally sourced ingredients stems from our belief that great food starts with great ingredients.
What can people expect when they visit your business?
At Flavor 91 Bistro, guests can expect an inviting atmosphere, a vibrant bar with an exciting happy hour, and a menu full of bold, unforgettable flavors. Our wings—recognized as the best in Ohio— and our 100% grass-fed burgers are fan favorites, but we also offer delicious vegan and vegetarian options, garden-fresh salads, and heartwarming soups that cater to all palates.

The community appreciates and seeks out locally owned restaurants, and we’ve been fortunate to have people from all over Columbus visit our bistro, not just for a meal but for an experience. The city’s commitment to fostering local businesses, combined with a growing food scene, makes it the perfect place to introduce unique flavors and new culinary concepts.
What’s next for your business? Anything exciting on the horizon?
The demand for our packaged goods, including Mama’s Cinnamon Ginger Sweet Tea, has grown, and we’re expanding to meet that need. Our food truck and catering services continue to thrive, bringing our signature wings, burgers, vegan and vegetarian options, and globally inspired dishes to corporate and private events. We are also planning more live music nights and special events to create even more engaging experiences for our guests.

When you’re not working, where in Columbus do you love to go? What do you like to do in the city?
When we’re not at the restaurant, we love exploring Columbus’ rich culinary and cultural scene, visiting other local restaurants, attending live music events, and enjoying the city’s parks and public spaces. Franklin Park Conservatory, Scioto Mile, and the many food and arts festivals throughout the year keep us connected to the community and inspire us to continue growing Flavor 91 Bistro as a true destination for food lovers.
