Dog-Friendly Parks and Trails
Columbus has hundreds of acres of green space located conveniently throughout the city. The recently renovated Scioto Mile created 33 new acres of parkland in downtown Columbus. With miles of multi-use trails stretching from Bicentennial Plaza in the south to North Bank Park in the North, this is a great spot to take a stroll with your dog and enjoy both the city and nature.
There are more than 20 Metroparks located throughout Columbus and surrounding areas as well as a slew of trails to take an excursion. The parks and trails are beautiful any time of year from the changing of leaves in the fall to the blooming of flowers in the spring. Several parks even have a body of water for your pooch to cool off in the summer. Find all of the fenced-in dog parks, dog swimming areas, and pet trails here.
Head south for a day trip to scenic Hocking Hills or Deer Creek State Park Lodge and stay in one of the lodge’s dog-friendly cabins. Just East of Columbus in the beautiful Welsh Hills, the Lazy River at Granville offers great campground amenities including mini-golf, a swimming pool, and a fenced-in dog park!
